H1N1 VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

Vaccination is the best preventative step that we have to stop the spread of influenza, including the H1N1. Because of this, the St. Tammany Parish School System has partnered with the LA Department of Education, the Office of Public Health and the Department of Health and Hospitals to offer its students and staff the H1N1 vaccination. The vaccination is free and scheduled dates and sites are as follows:

December 5 at Fontainebleau Jr. High School (additional parking at FHS)

December 12 at Northshore High School

January 9 at Covington High School

January 16 at Fontainebleau High School

January 23 at Pearl River High School.

The hours are 9:00a.m. until 3:00p.m. Students age nine years and under will require two vaccines which must be 28 days apart. That means students age nine years and under will be targeted on December 5 and December 12 which will allow adequate time for the second vaccine in January. Students and St. Tammany Public School employees can come to any of the locations which are convenient to them. School System employees can present their IDs at any site for their vaccinations.

Students, their families and our staff are encouraged to go to their private providers first and reserve the Saturday dates as a last resort.

Letters, consent forms and information about the forms of vaccines will be sent to all parents and staff as well as located on the School System website, http://stpsb.org/. Depending on the number of people waiting to get the vaccine, the vaccination process time takes about 30 minutes, but may be expedited by coming with the consent form already completed.
